INTERESTING JOVIAN EVENT ON 14TH OCTOBER AFTER MID-NIGHT

Jupiter shines birght in the constellation Gemini, rising around mid-night this month. Observing the phenomena of Jovian Satellites is always fun. On 14th October after mid-night at 1:30 am IST (20:00 UST) two of the Galilen Satellites, Ganymede and Europa will be seen just 3.6 arc seconds apart. Both shining around magnitude 5.5 will be eclipsed one by one by Jupiter’s shadow. In telescopes with high magnification power they will seem to be disappear one by one.

The eclipse of Ganymede will occur first at 2:00 am IST (20:30 UST). At this time Ganymede will be disappeared from the view and only Eurpoa will be visible. At 3:40 am IST Eurpoa will also be eclipsed. Ganymede will reappear at 5:00 am IST.
